Where to Stay in Corfu: The Best Areas & Resorts
From the Venetian streets of Corfu Town to the turquoise coves of the north-east coast, discover the best places to stay in Corfu for couples, families, beaches, luxury escapes and first-time visits.
Choosing where to stay in Corfu
Choosing where to stay in Corfu can make a huge difference to your holiday. Corfu may be one island, but its resorts are surprisingly varied.
You can stay among the Venetian streets and restaurants of Corfu Town, wake up beside the turquoise coves of the north-east coast, choose a long sandy beach on the west coast, or base yourself in one of the larger family-friendly resorts of the north and south.
There isn't one single best place to stay in Corfu. The right choice depends on the holiday you want.
For a first visit, Corfu Town is hard to beat for sightseeing and exploring without a car. Kassiopi is our favourite all-round resort, Paleokastritsa is the standout for spectacular scenery, Acharavi works particularly well for families, while Agios Gordios is a great choice if a beautiful sandy beach matters most.
For something more exclusive, consider extending your trip beyond Corfu itself with a few nights on Paxos and a private boat day around Antipaxos. It turns a normal Corfu holiday into a much more premium Ionian island itinerary.

Explore Paxos & Antipaxos →12 of the best places to stay in and around Corfu
These are the areas we'd compare first, with a clear reason to choose each one.
Corfu Town - Best for first-time visitors and exploring without a car
If beaches are not your only priority, Corfu Town is one of the most rewarding places to stay anywhere on the island.
Its historic centre is packed with narrow lanes, elegant buildings, little squares, restaurants, bars and cafes.
Kassiopi - Our best all-round place to stay in Corfu
If we had to choose one Corfu resort that works for the widest range of travellers, we'd start with Kassiopi.
Set around a harbour on the north-east coast, Kassiopi combines restaurants, cafes, attractive swimming spots and access to one of Corfu's most appealing stretches of coastline.
Acharavi - Best place to stay in Corfu for families
Acharavi is one of the easiest places to recommend for families wanting an uncomplicated Corfu holiday.
It combines a long beach with plenty of accommodation, restaurants, supermarkets and everyday facilities.
Paleokastritsa - Best for scenery
Few places capture the image of Corfu quite like Paleokastritsa.
Green hills fall towards a collection of coves where the sea shifts between deep blue and turquoise, making it one of the island's standout locations for swimming, views and boat trips.
Sidari - Best for an easy, lively resort holiday
Sidari is one of northern Corfu's best-known resorts and a strong choice when you want beach, restaurants, entertainment and plenty of accommodation in one place.
Its larger resort feel works especially well for travellers who value convenience and plenty happening nearby.
Gouvia - Best base for exploring Corfu
Location is Gouvia's big advantage.
It offers useful access towards Corfu Town, northern Corfu and the west of the island, while also providing a strong choice of hotels, restaurants and boating options around its marina.
Dassia - Best for an easy resort and beach combination
Dassia is a convenient east-coast base with a long beach, established hotels, restaurants and watersports.
It is a particularly practical option if you want a traditional resort holiday while still being relatively close to Corfu Town.
Barbati - Best for couples and clear water
Barbati sits beneath the green slopes of Mount Pantokrator and is one of our favourite options for couples who want a quieter, more scenic base.
Its exceptionally clear water and attractive hillside setting give it a more relaxed and upmarket feel than many of Corfu's larger resorts.
Agios Gordios - Best for a classic sandy beach holiday
If your version of a Greek holiday begins with a long sandy beach, Agios Gordios deserves serious consideration.
The resort combines a relaxed atmosphere with dramatic green hills, a long stretch of beach and beautiful west-coast sunsets.
Benitses - Best for couples who want beach and exploring
Benitses offers a useful middle ground between a traditional coastal village and a modern holiday resort.
It combines restaurants and beach access with much easier access towards Corfu Town than many of the island's more remote resorts.
Moraitika & Messonghi - Best for relaxed family holidays
Neighbouring Moraitika and Messonghi make a very good base for families who favour an easy beach holiday over sightseeing every day.
Both have plenty of accommodation, restaurants and useful holiday facilities while generally feeling more relaxed than Corfu's liveliest resorts.
Paxos & Antipaxos - Best for a luxury island escape
Paxos and Antipaxos are not part of Corfu itself, but they are one of the most compelling ways to turn a Corfu holiday into something much more special.
Stay on Paxos for a few nights and you'll find small harbour villages, boutique accommodation, beautiful coves and a slower pace.
Then explore Antipaxos by private boat for brilliant turquoise water, beaches and secluded swimming.
For couples, honeymooners or anyone planning a more luxurious Ionian itinerary, this is our standout premium extension.
